MATCH-MPIC Forecast Page

This is the home page of the MATCH-MPIC Chemical Weather Forecast System.

Click on the links below to get to the predicted distributions of important trace gases in the atmosphere, or to obtain more information about the forecasting system.

Standard
Forecast
Figures

The forecasts compute the global 3D distributions of a wide array of gases; daily plots are made automatically for the global distributions of key gases at the surface and selected pressure levels, as well as specific to current and upcoming field campaigns (upon request)

Custom
Figures

Create your own custom figures based on the model output. Click here to access the interface.

We have now updated this to using output from a new rerun of the forecast system. Please contact us if any data for the dates that you wish to analyze is still missing.

Also, output from the old version of the forecast run has been archived (since some has been used in publications); please contact us if you are in need of anything for comparisons.

MATCH-
MPIC

The chemical weather forecasts employ the global 3D chemistry-meteorology model known as MATCH-MPIC (Model of Atmospheric Transport and Chemistry - Max Planck Institue for Chemistry version).

Aerosol Forecasts

A sister system which computes forecasted global aerosol distributions has been developed and is maintained by Phil Rasch and Bill Collins of NCAR, who also perform the pre-processing of the NCEP data which is used in our forecasts.

SAPHIRE

The main funding for this work comes from the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), under a project called SAPHIRE:
Southern Asian Photochemistry and Impacts of the Redistribution of Emissions.
